For those of use whose attention span isn't what it was for ambient and who need something more narrative than noise, there is the sub-genre of atmospheric black metal that I'm inclined to call "monolithic". Paysage d'Hiver might be the archetypal example. But if you just want to be consumed by a relentless wall of beautiful air pressure, this is ideal.

every CD getting better than the previously... everything this guy do is gold..for a 42 yo hearing metal since I was 15 I can honestly say that in one year you went places in my top 5 probably 3 everything here resonates with me and makes me being hopeful of the days/weeks ahead. you are a bright star on my night. thank you another thing. this was in 2015 so he was like 17 or 18 and already doing stuff like this? damn..
