Forestial Transcendence, du groupe très confidentiel Dissonant Winds, n'était déjà pas un album facile d'accès. Plus cryptique encore est Drowning in the Residues of Misery. Trois pistes dont la longueur évoquera une ascension vers un sommet inaccessible. Si on retrouve des atmosphères mystiques (surtout avec les chœurs dans "Ephemeral Passage"), cet album est une plaie ouverte qui se situe à la fois dans la haine et l'abattement profond dans le fait d'exister. La forêt expose notre petitesse...

For those of use whose attention span isn't what it was for ambient and who need something more narrative than noise, there is the sub-genre of atmospheric black metal that I'm inclined to call "monolithic". Paysage d'Hiver might be the archetypal example. But if you just want to be consumed by a relentless wall of beautiful air pressure, this is ideal.
